Speed Alerts

Truck Me monitors your current speed against the road speed limit and alerts you when you're over. It also warns you about approaching fixed and mobile speed cameras.

Speed Limit Display

The speed overlay is always visible during navigation:

• Current speed, your live GPS speed in km/h.
• Speed limit, the posted limit for your current road segment.
• Colour coding:
  • Green, under the limit.
  • Amber, within 5 km/h of the limit.
  • Red, over the limit.

The display sits in the corner of the map view, easy to glance at without taking your eyes off the road for long.

Audio Alerts

When your speed exceeds the posted limit:

1. First warning, a single tone when you go over.
2. Sustained alert, if you stay over the limit for more than 10 seconds, a repeat tone plays at intervals.
3. All clear, a brief confirmation tone when you drop back under.

Audio alerts are fully configurable, adjust volume independently from other alerts, or turn them off entirely in Settings.

Speed Camera Warnings

Truck Me warns you about speed cameras on your route:

• Fixed cameras, permanent speed camera locations.
• Mobile cameras, community-reported mobile camera positions (via incident reporting).
• Average speed zones, point-to-point camera sections.

For each camera, you get:

• Distance countdown, "Speed camera in 1 km", "500 m", "200 m".
• Audio alert, a distinct tone at 1 km and again at 200 m.
• Map marker, camera icon on the map.

Heavy Vehicle Speed Limits

Many roads have different speed limits for heavy vehicles, often 10–20 km/h lower than the posted limit for light vehicles. Truck Me uses your vehicle profile to show the correct limit for your truck type, not just the sign on the road.
